The weather has been pretty good for the last few days so we've made the most of our time in the garden. The children are really enjoying their climbing frame, it's kept them busy for hours. Of course it's not quite as much fun (in Alex's view anyway) as turning on the hose pipe and soaking everything in sight.
We still don't really have a "grand plan" for the back garden, however it is keeping us busy enough just pulling out all the litter, dead leaves and stuff.
The plans that we have come up with so far are
A vegetable bed down the side of the house
Sweetpeas climbing up the trellis at the front
Lavender in the bed under the dinning room window.
This year the hot tub deck with probably have to stay as it is, as will the deck by the house. We need to decide what is going to happen to the conservatory before we start major work out there.
Progress on the vegetable bed is good.
I spent an afternoon de littering it, Esme and I them bagged up 2 bags of gravel (the previous owners have mulched everything with LOTS of gravel.
Daniel has now spent a couple of afternoons out there remving the large shrub and about 6 more bags of gravel. However it does now look like you can grow things in it.
At the front I've done a bit of pruning and weed removal and cleared about 1/2 of on bed. No gravel removal yet, we need more bags.
The other bed has lots of bindweed so I think we are going to have to use some weed killer there.
We were hoping to carry on the time outside with a BBQ tea but it's got a bit chilly so I will be trying to perfect my fried chicken recipe instead.
