The year of DIY has begun

December was a very busy month and I didn't get time to post anything. We all had a great Solstice and Christmas and hopefully I can get some photos up here soon.

I've kind of christened this year the Year of DIY. The plan being that now Alex is at school I get some longer chunks of time to work on projects around the house so I'm going to challenge my DIY skills and see what I can get crossed off the list.

So far I'm doing well, with some sandpaper and a tin of white gloss paint. Not a great challenge to my skills yet but I have managed to cross a lot of bits and pieces off the list. So far
Bathroom skirting board
New skirting board in the en suite library (AKA bookshelves in our room)
Alex's bedroom door & windowsill

Not bad going for the first couple of weeks of the year.

The next plan is to work my way round the upstairs landing, plenty of doors and skirting board around there to keep me busy. I also want to do the paintwork in the kitchen which didn't get done when we painted the walls. I think I need the help of a strong man to help move the appliances though

I don't think I approve of you seeking out the services of this strong man of which you speak.

However I would like to point of that *your* man, being somewhat lazy when it comes to moving furniture, did carefully paint the woodwork behind the appliances before pushing them back into position...

Have a good look at the woodwork in the utility room.

  2. Ahh, an apology is in order then. Sorry Daniel, I didn't notice you doing that. In that case I have no more excuses not to get on with painting the kitchen!
