A couple of weeks on and the concrete hot tub base is no more. It turns out for some jobs, bigger is definitely better.
Having struggled with the first demolition hammer Daniel (with help from the rain) opted to stop work after a demolition day one and wait for the following weekend and a larger hammer. A much larger hammer, in fact one which came with it's own trolley as it was to heavy to move it around much.
It did the job though and in a couple of hours there were more lumps of concrete than in the whole of the previous weekend! This time I was not able to keep up with taking it to the skip.
The next problem was that there turned out to be rather more than one skip full, so we arranged for a new skip to be delivered. Esme was very impressed by it's pinkness.
The children were surprisingly excited to help Daddy fill the wheelbarrow and take it round to the skip. Esme was even asking if we had spare gardening gloves so she could invite one of her friends round after school to help too. Last weekend we got the full crew on the job, my parents and brother were roped into helping too. Thank you! We all wanted to know the answer to the big question, what would we find under the concrete. Fortunately no dead bodies or anything to scary, just an old pond filled with stone.
Having got rid of all that, and filled in most of the pond with the surrounding sand we have another large chunk of garden to play with.
It's quite a change form what it was at the beginning of the month.
It looks even more different today, some friendly feecyclers have come and removed the fence for us. The new one should go up this week.
The changes are not just outside, this week I've started a bit of a make over job in the bathroom. The rusty radiator is now smooth (ish) and white again. I also found some tropical fish window stickers which we were given several years ago, we now have a splash of colour on the walls.
