Since the weather has been so good we've been out in the garden as much as possible. The children have rediscovered the sandpit and climbing frame (and I've rediscovered just how much sand they trek inside!)
There is still a lot of work to do in the garden to make it a nice place to sit, and indeed to look out over. The destruction started last year by removing the hot tub base has continued. We've dug out a couple of huge shrubs which we didn't like and found a nice bamboo behind them. We've also moved the pond, which now sits in the corner where a shrub was.The pond which was under the hot tub base has mostly been filled in and we are finally feeling ready to start some planting.
The vegetable bed is looking much better as Dan has re built it with some of the decking we took out last year. The seedlings are coming along well too in the conservatory.
One of the big jobs for this year is getting the lawn sorted out. Since the grass is pretty healthy we're hoping to be able to even out the bumps and just add a bit of turf where there was a big pile of sand The other big job is going to be creating a patio at the back of the garden, which will hopefully include somewhere for a camp fire.
After getting the lawn mower out fir the first time this year, it seemed like we should get the BBQ out as well. The kids are enjoying lighting fires with the "sparky stick" so they each had a turn.
The new camping pot we got for Christmas also had it's first outing. The new potatoes and fried onions both turned out well.
